Spring 2012 Quick Final Impressions Part I:

June 25th, 2012

**Image borrowed from Random Curiosity’s Spring 2012 Preview.

To say the least, the spring anime season was one of the best seasons in recently years (in my humble opinion). Heck, there might be some argument to be had as it being one of the best, but I’ll save that argument for another time. In any case, “time waits for no one” and the end of the spring season is at hand. As such, an anime blogger,I’m pretty much obligated to write out my final impressions on the season… so here it is!

Note: This post contains Ozuma, Fate/Zero, Aquarion Evol, and Tasogare Otome x Amnesia.

  • Part II (Friday) will contain Jormungand, Sakamichi no Apollon, and Tsuritama.

Turn Back The Clock – First Impressions: Nisemonogatari

June 25th, 2012

Approaching half a year since I wrote my first ever article online or otherwise, I figured it’d be a good time to turn back the clock a bit and do a quick re-post. This was originally written for leetNEET way back on January 13th. In the end, I believe that this post, combined with my next one on Rinne no Lagrange turned out to be one of the main reasons I was able to join Random Curiosity as a writer. Like they say, “everything has to start somewhere…” and this is where I started.

Series Info:

  • Prequel: Bakemonogatari (2009)
  • Production Studio: Shaft
  • Air Date: Winter 2012. 1/8 start. (11 episodes x 24 minutes per)
  • Notable Staff/VA for Main Roles:
    • Series Creator: Nisio, Ishin
    • Director: Shinbou, Akiyuki (Arakawa Under the Bridge, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica)
    • VA (Araragi, Karen): Kitamura, Eri (Angel Beats!, Ao No Exorcist, Blood+, Last Exile, Working!!)
    • VA (Araragi, Tsukihi): Iguchi, Yuka (Bokurano, Mayo Chiki!, Toaru Majutsu no Index, True Tears)
  • Premise/Plot Summary: In Nisemonogatari, the focus turns to the sisters Karen and Tsukihi Araragi. Together, the two “fire sisters” attempt to capture Kaiki Deishu, who makes his return and begins spreading the curse inflicted on Nadeko. Notably, this is the same swindler who deceived Hitagi prior to the events of Bakemonogatari

Discussion/Impressions: (Series + Episode 01)

Following an agonizing two year wait comes the eagerly awaited sequel to the surprise 2009 hit, Bakemonogatari. The question is, was it worth the wait?

Pick 5: Spring 2012 Anime That Deserve More Views

June 18th, 2012

**Featured picture borrowed from Random Curiosity’s Spring 2012 preview.

For the most part, I believe the Spring 2012 anime season has been one of the best in recent memory. We have awesome sequels in Fate/Zero’s 2nd Season, Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean, and Aquarion Evol… entertaining shows in specific genres like Jormungand, Hyouka, Sakamichi no Apollon, and Accel World… etc. But at the same time, we also have quite a few shows that have seemingly been ignored as a result. This post highlights 5 shows I feel deserve more attention.

Control Your Destiny: A Xenoblade Chronicles Review

June 15th, 2012

*A revised version of my original review on leetNEET.

Game Info:

  • Alternate Name: Monado: The Beginning of the World
  • Production/Development: Monolith Soft
  • Genre: Role-Playing (JRPG)
  • Release Info: Wii Exclusive. 6/10/10 (JP), 8/19/11 (EU), 4/2/12 (US)
  • ESRB Rating: Teen

From Tetsuya Takahashi, the mind behind Xenogears and the Xenosaga series, comes (arguably) the best Japanese role-playing game of this generation. (This review is based on the European version and is pretty much spoiler-free, as with all my other reviews.)

Figure Focus – Almecha KOS-MOS Ver. 4 by Alter

June 3rd, 2012

Another spectacular addition to the Almecha line by Alter. Loads of weapons and accessories, great figure stability/balance, even have magnets in the box itself to keep it closed. The rigid hair gets a little in the way sometimes, but no real big. Was discounted to 4900 yen on Amiami recently, but now sold out.
EDIT: Fixed some image loading issues on the “click-to-view” pictures.
